ABSTRACT
The loss of skin can occur for many reasons, including acute trauma, chronic wounds or even surgical interventions. Wounds can be divided into epidermal, superficial partial-thickness, deep partial-thickness and full-thickness with increasing depth of the injury. In the case of a near-total full-thickness skin, not only conventional methods just like, split-thickness autologous skin grafting but also tissue-engineered skin substitute biomaterials are currently available to clinicians and are used for wound-healing purposes. We report the case of a young patient who destroyed lower extremity due to traffic accidents. To get optimal restoration of function and feature, evaluation of injury, massive irrigation, proper debridement, and CGCryoDerm (Cryopreserved acellular dermal matrix) being used in one-stage operating procedures in combination with thin split-thickness skin grafts. And then we get the successfully good result. (J Korean Wound Management Soc 2011;7:29-31)
