ABSTRACT
The prevention of pressure ulcer (PU) is being used as an indicator of quality of nursing care. Once the PU developed, It lead to many of the problems such as pain and suffering of patient, delay of length of stay and cost issues. The incidence of PU in patients undergoing cardiac surgery is reported to up to 29.5%. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of team activity to prevent PU in patient with undergoing cardiac surgery. From July 1, 2011 to August 31 CARE team organized and started the team activities. The data collection performed retrospectively before and after 6 months team activity and It analyzed 130 patient (Intervention group: 61, Control Group 69). The incidence rate of PU was 3.3% in intervention group. It resulted decrease of incidence compared with the control group (14.5%). But it was not statistically significant. We suggested further research to determine the effect of team activity to prevent the PU. (J Korean Wound Management Soc 2013;9:97-102)
